About The Artist.
Kristen Medeiros is a 29-year-old self-taught artist from Southeastern Massachusetts. She was always creative as a child, but it wasn’t until she was in graduate school in 2020 pursuing her Master of Health Science degree when she picked up a pencil and sketchbook and reignited her love for art.
Kristen’s media of choice is charcoal and graphite pencil. She admires the techniques required to achieve detail and realism without the use of color. After sharing her progress on social media in 2021 she started receiving requests for custom drawings, often sentimental keepsakes combining different reference photos of existing and departed family members. Other subjects included dogs, cats, cars and motorcycles. She has since completed over 30 custom charcoal and graphite pencil portraits. While she still plans on continuing commissioned work, Kristen is currently branching into the realm of original artwork and print reproduction.
Kristen does not place herself in a box when it comes to her pursuits. When she’s not drawing, she works as a traveling pathologists’ assistant. She is grateful for the path she has taken, as she believes her knowledge and interest in human anatomy obtained through her studies and career has allowed her to progress in drawing portraits exponentially. It also allows her to pursue her interests in art, travel, and healthcare synchronously.
